Marine Biodiversity assesses the interaction between marine eco-systems and travel and leisure activities. The higher the score the richer and more diverse a local marine eco-system is, the higher its recreational value and the better managed its marine estate is.

Coastal Development and Infrastructure evaluates the recreational pressure on a geography’s coastline, as well as the place’s ability to manage its coast infrastructure sustainably, including industrial activities. The higher the score the lower the recreational pressure is and the more sustainably the place’s infrastructure is managed.

Leisure Activities look at the claim of tourism and recreational activities on a geography’s marine estate and how these activities affect marine eco-systems. The higher the score the lower the recreational claim on a place’s marine estate is and the fewer the harmful travel and leisure activities are.

Conservation & Regeneration evaluates the extent to which a geography has implemented regulations and best practices to protect marine eco-systems, including fishing practices and Marine Protected Areas (MPA), in relation to travel and leisure. The higher the score the high the level of protection of marine ecosystems is.
